Handspun merino and felt beauties

It´s been a pretty hot summer so far, not my favourite season really. I prefer to keep the doors and windows open all day, but when the air is simmering and you are having trouble breathing O2 off that “hairdryer” atmosphere, you best close the shutters….and think of something cool. I then like sitting behind my spinning wheel creating a beautiful yarn, or two, or three…well, until it´s turning cooler again. These are my latest super soft 18 micron handspun merino yarns, mulesing free of course, and available through my etsy store:

Last Saturday I didn´t feel like pedalling, it was so hot outside…again….but I didn´t want to put up my feet and do absolutely nothing either, that´s just not me. So what type of project could I do when I really didn´t want to leave the house and get roasted out there? Try a wet felting project, YES! Continuously sprinkling water over the fibers and working the wet wool is such a delight, trust me, it is awesome! I used my 20 micron merino rovings, handpainted bluefaced leicester curly fleece, and a touch of silk fiber, and voila:

All the fibers I used for my wet felting project are available in my etsy store.
The weather finally turned in the evening, the most promising thunderstorm ever rumbled towards us, bringing enormous dark clouds, heavy rain and a healthy fresh breeze. That´s when I put up my feet and enjoyed watching the cloud drama:

Everyone, have a beautiful summer season, and keep cool! :o)

July fibers, dolls hair and more

My goodness, time flies, I know I keep saying that but it´s so true. The month is almost over, and new fibers and yarns have made it out of the dyepot and off the bobbins, here are some of them:

These pretty babies have been distributed in my etsy store, ebayUK store and DaWanda store. There will be more undyed wensleydale curly fleece in natural black and single curls for dolls hair, felting and handspinning in various colours very soon.

I painted, carded and spun a very soft and lovely bluefaced leicester/merino yarn which will be part of a new crocheting project – no, not another beanie hat :o)

But, one new slouchy beanie is ready for display though, yay! :o)  I handspun a pure merino single yarn for it:

That´s all for now. Everyone have a beautiful, creative and safe summer! Take care.

Going super soft

Busy as a bee I am restocking my yarns, rovings and fleeces – there is now a new extra soft british bluefaced leicester curly lambswool fleece, hand painted in gorgeous autumn colours, and fresh from the spinning wheel my JUMBO super bulky and super soft thick and thin merino yarn, and a new handspun and hand painted batch of my extra soft merino thick and thin yarn SAVANNAH is out and displayed in all its splendor. I have also sorted more extra long wensleydale white curls, very soft and very curly indeed :o) The yarns and fleeces are distributed in my etsy store and my ebayUK store:
